• The model is 100% scratch built with planks on frame construction method from the drawings. The hull is made of wood and painted. The deck is joined by tiny strips of wood like the real ship.

The masts are full rigged with full sails. It take hundreds of hours to finish this model by skillful master craftsmen.
• This model is not a kit and ready for display. Model comes with a display base and a brass name plate as shown photos.

The Twelve Apostles (battleship, 1841)
"Twelve Apostles" - Russian sailing ship of the line I rank, was set afloat on the Nikolaev shipyard in 1841 . Subsequently, the stocks went down two similar ships, " Paris "( 1849 ) and " The Grand Duke Constantine "( 1852 ). Was part of the Black Sea Fleet , took part in the defense of Sevastopol , during which in February 1855 was flooded. In autumn 1861 , after a failed attempt to climb blown up. Depicted on the eight paintings I. Aivazovsky , including the painting "The Ship" Twelve Apostles "," ( 1897 ).
In detail
The first captain of the "Twelve Apostles" was Vladimir Kornilov . He established a strict discipline on board, the level of preparation of the team at that time was also high. In 1845 Nicholas I spent the views of Black Sea Fleet (held every 7 years), and the "Twelve Apostles" most of the summer was the Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich .
As in 1847 - in 1848 Kornilov was sent to London to buy a steam-frigate . The new commander of the ship was Lieutenant Commander VA Ergomyshev. In 1849 - 1 853 ship's captain was A. I. Panfilov . In the summer of 1850 the "Twelve Apostles" revisited Konstantin.
In 1853 the ship was held last peaceful teachings. In September, before the start of the Crimean War , he moved 1,466 soldiers and officers from Sevastopol to the Caucasus. Because of congestion on it opened a leak, repair lasted until February 1854 . Because of this, the "Twelve Apostles" was unable to participate in the Battle of Sinop .
Upon completion of repair ship under the command of H. Vink joined the squadron that defended Sevastopol raid. When in June 1854 surpassing the Anglo-French-Turkish forces blockaded the Russian fleet in Sevastopol , on the "Twelve Apostles" took off part of the guns (mostly bombicheskih) to strengthen coastal artillery. Built on the basis of their battery is called "Dvenadtsatiapostolskaya."
18 (30) December 1854 on the orders of P. Nakhimov the ship is arranged hospital. 6 (18) February 1855 he was ordered to prepare the "Twelve Apostles" to the flooding, and in the night from 13 to 14 February (from 25 to 26 February ), the battleship was sunk between Nicholas and St. Michael's batteries. Ship because of its large size, deep in mud, so when two years later, work began on clearing the channel , pick it failed. In autumn 1861 it was blown up.
