This book tells us about places that were popular attractions 100 years ago and not necessarily the ones promoted today. It chronicles the journey two Yankees experience while traveling around Virginia in 1916. The writing style for this book is typically light and sometimes clever as the couple were actors. Not too flowery like some of the books being written even 10 years earlier. An easy and enjoyable read. Walter Hale also illustrated for several World War I books and died in 1917. He has a great sketch of the Prince Edward Hotel in Farmville showing the Second Street side connecting to the old Morton's Tavern.
