    Description

We are pleased to offer a group of 3 exceptionally rare silverplated napkin rings, each decorated with a logo of Toa Kaiun Kaisya and 3 anchors and a flag with a diamond symbol.
Toa Kaiun was a Japanese national policy corporation formed in Tokyo in August, 1939 to foster Japanese control of shipping in China.  As can be easily understood, the fleet was a prime target during World War II.  Almost all of the ships were sunk and in 1946, the company was dissolved by the Allies.  The flag on the napkin rings is seen on a brochure titled "Toa Kaiun 1940/07" that appears to be a timetable.  We were unable to find a listing of the ships owned by Toa Kaiun but we are guessing that Kaisya was the name of one of its ships.  These are rare and historically significant.  If you are a collector of maritime antiques or World War II historical memorabilia, these are for you.
For this auction only, we will consider shipping to Japan with indemnification.  Please email us for additional information.
