    Description

    THE BIZARRE SISTERS
    by Jay and Audrey Walz
A Novel published in 1950  and based on one of the greatest aristocratic scandals.
Two women lived on a lonely plantation named Bizarre, in Cumberland County, Virginia,
across the Appomattox River from Farmville
    - plain and selfish Judith andher sister, the beautiful, hot-blooded Nancy.
It was not surprising that imprisoned in the big old house during the long,
hard winters Judith's husband turned to Nancy.
For he was a handsome and passionate man and Judith gave him little encouragement. The conflict between the sisters which shook all Virginia raged throughout their lives. Nancy bore Richard a child and it was whispered that she murdered it. The two lovers were tried for infanticide and were defended by two of the greatest lawyers in history, Patrick Henry & John Marshall. Judith never forgave them. She was a master tyrant who drove Nancy to a slave's life in the Bizarre mansion. Her persecution was endless & Nancy bore it well. She had after all, her secret moments with Richard. Judith did not stop short of murder. In her bloody course of punishment many besides Nancy and Richard were made to suffer. This intimate account of a tragedy involving nearly a score of famous people represents a new departure in the historical novel.
