    Description

    This antique flag depicts the Great Seal of Illinois, which was designed in 1867 and draws from the design of the Great Seal of the United States. The printed flag is constructed of linen and depicts a bald eagle in profile, perched on a rock. In the eagle's beak there is a red banner with the state motto, "State Sovereignty, National Union.” In the eagle’s talons is a Union shield.
