    Description

    AUGLAIZE COUNTY
    ,
    OHIO
Early days in Auglaize County and its various communities - Wapakoneta, St. Mary's, New Bremen and Minster - are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this
    NEW
    19 Page Booklet
    reprinted from
the 1892 Centennial edition of Henry Howe's
    Historical Collections of Ohio
    and other hard-to-find sources
    .
The spiral-bound booklet is printed one-sided on quality paper, with the print enlarged 10% for easier reading. A sheet of clear vinyl has been added to protect the front cover.
Illustrations include a photo by William E. Potter of Wapakoneta in 1887.
Among the many fascinating topics covered in the booklet are: the discovery of mastodon specimens; Indian chiefs Blue Jacket and Black Hoof; an Indian football game and other Indian customs; the Society of Friends; Girty's Town; the old hero Gen. August Willich; and a discourse (which gets a bit side-tracked) on the name Wapakoneta.
    GENEALOGY BUFFS

    The Ohio Guide.
