Chesapeake and Ohio Railway advertisement ca. early 1940s (C&O) vintage railroad

Description

Vintage Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O) magazine or newspaper advertisement. From what the advertisement says, it sounds like it’s from the WWII period in the early 1940s. The large articulated Allegheny steam locomotives mentioned in the advertisement had a 2-6-6-6 wheel arrangement, and one is located at the world-class Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. The Allegheny locomotives were used during the war. The U.S. entered World War II (WWII or WW2) after the Japanese attack on the U.S. Naval base at Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu in Hawaii on December 7, 1941. The C&O was later absorbed into the Chessie System, which eventually became a part of CSX Transportation. The Chessie cat logo was a nod to the Chessie cat in C&O passenger train advertisements. The C&O has lots of cool history!
