Among the many subjects included in the 1892 excerpt are:
Boundaries, Natural Water Cources, Mexican Grants, Organization of the county, First Election, Various county seats -- Adamsville, Empire City, La Grange, Knight's Ferry and finally, Modesto, Education, Early Settlers, Stock-stealing and other early troubles, Agriculture, Vineyards, Irrigation projects, Lock Irrigation Districts. There's a separate section on the City of Modesto, and other towns -- Oakdale, Hickman, Knight's Ferry, Newman, Turlock, La Grange, and others, and several "dead towns" -- Tuolumne City, Empire City, Hill's Ferry, and Westport.
The Historic Spots excerpt concerns Stanislaus River, the Old West Side, Hill's Ferry, Knight's Ferry, La Grange, Adamsville, Empire City, Tuolumne River Ferries, Tuolumne City, Burneyville, and Langworth.
