    Description

Arkansas Donation Lands, 1871-1875, compiled by Desmond Walls Allen. Contains an index to land applications between 1871-1875. Donation lands were lands which reverted to state ownership for failure to pay taxes.  Arkansas offered these lands as an incentive to lure residents to the state.  The book begins with an explanation of the laws relating to donation lands and how they changed over time. Applications are arranged by date order and also alphabetically by surname of applicant. Published in 2000 by Arkansas Research Inc., Conway, AR. 8.5"x11", 196 pages.
