    Description

    A HISTORY of HIGH BRIDGE
    by Jo D. Smith
The story of how this engineering marvel came into being as part of the South Side Rail Road in 1854 and known as perhaps the largest bridge in the world. After the Civil War it became part of the Atlantic, Mississippi and Ohio, the Norfolk & Western and later the Norfolk-Southern. Now abandoned, the brick piers stand alongside its more modern steel counterpart built in 1914 for the N&W. Great Civil War history. Now the anchor attraction for High Bridge Trail State Park.
    Softcover, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", 24 pages, illustrated, bibliography.
