Description
I have for sale my lovely Landcruiser BJ40. I have owned the truck for over 7 years. The truck has been completely disassembled and rebuilt with a more offroad biased design. This is a left-hand drive vehicle so perfect for the US! registration is straight forward as it is older than 25 years. shipping is included in the sale price!! shopped to all major US ports (east or west coast).
The suspension has been converted to 3 link front with Patrol arms and a triangulated 4 link rear. There are coil springs on all 4 corners and toyota sourced discs and calipers all round. the chassis was removed and treated before being rebuilt; the engine was stripped down and inspected and any parts needing replacement were changed with new OEM parts.
The axles were also removed and stripped to ensure no hidden issues.
the rear tub has been modified to include a strong crash bar around the lower portion of the body with integrated skid plates at the cills.
I purchased and fitted two new Toyota OEM front door rubber seals as this a common issue with these old trucks. It also has the toyota factory power steering fitted which makes turning easy.
A Holset HX35 turbo to provide a bit more poke was fitted and an intercooler (which is fitted but not plumbed up to the turbo).
After doing all the work the truck has sat in my workshop and I have literally driven it twice in 5 years!
Although the truck is drivable it does need a little work to get it to 100%. I had a fuel tank made in aluminium which was supposed to be fitted after I finished welding mounting tabs to it but unfortunately it was pinched by scrap metal thieves as I left it outside the workshop to dry.
It will also require a window channel seal on one front door (around £20 and 2 minutes to fit). The rear seats are mounted and functional but require the foam and vinyl covers to be fitted (I have these new already just never got round to fitting them).
I did have plans to fit anti-roll bars front and rear to combat body roll but again life took over and i never got round to finishing it. last but not least it needs a professional engine setup to account for the turbo etc this isn't that dear as there are no electrics involved.
The truck was painted to stop the metalwork from rusting and to enable me to actually use the car so it is not the best job although 90% of people can't tell. it is perfectly fine to live with just not what I had in mind for the end product, I was hoping to decide on a green colour to have done professionally.
The engine and gearbox are spot on and the car starts and drives like it should. The truck is a real eye catcher, I lost count the amount of offers I had from businesses wanting to use it for advertising etc!
all in all I believe with around £500 the truck would be complete (cheaper if you fabricate the anti roll bars yourself) the main cost being the fuel tank (I paid £220 to have one made to my specs).
I will have missed lots but I will add to the advert as and when I remember.
I have sold a number of these over in the States so am offering it here with delivery to any major shipping port (east or west coast) in the US (so the price includes delivery from the UK to the US).
In the past we have used US based vehicle shipping company CFRRinkens (they have a website and multiple offices and can be contacted to clarify the shipping/registration process) deal with shipping and help in the registration process (which is simple as its regarded as a historic vehicle over 25 years of age).
