In this book, we identify over 5000 descendants of Jeremiah and Sarah (McCoy) Payne, survivors of the Pigeon Roost Massacre, which occurred in what is now southern Scott County in September 1812.  In the 1820s, the Payne family relocated to nearby Washington County where many of their descendants are found today.  It should be noted that several other Payne families have, or still, live in Scott County that are not descendants of this family.
The book is illustrated with photos of early Payne family members and is fully
