    Description

    STERLING JEWELRY BOX CASKET HOWARD & Co. NEW YORK FITTED INTERIOR LARGE.
    Measuring 9.25” x 5.25” and 2.75” high this is roughly the size of a cigar box. It is extremely heavy gauge construction with a gross weight in excess of 52 troy ounces with the upper tray removed. It has a charming and intriguing engraving on the lid, “Olga from Paul Christmas 1941”. You wonder what the next four years brought for them, the United States entering the second world war just two weeks prior to Christmas ‘41.
    Note, there is some loss to the blue felt on the edges of the lid insert. Take a look at the last photo for a good representation. A handy person could remove the insert, reline it and it would be finished.
